Orange cat names

Around four in five orange cats are male, because the gene for orange fur sits on the X chromosome. That's why the classic ginger names skew boyish: Rufus (Latin for red-haired), Rory (the red king), and the long line of lions from Leo to Aslan.

Orange is also the easiest coat to name after food. Marmalade, Clementine, Saffron, Paprika and Cheddar all describe the colour exactly, and the sun gods Ra, Helios and Apollo are there for cats with a sense of their own importance.
